Making a baby sling - tips

Seersucker is great because it's lightweight, strong, cotton, soft & ez to work with.

Stichery Witchery or hemming tape is great to use on hems if you really dont want to sew them, this will cost more $ but it will save time. Simply iron the tape inside the hem. Lots of videos on Youtube.

For fabrics that have frayed edges, you really can't wash them first, that's ok, you can wash them after, if sewing on a ring, you may want to wash before you sew the rings.

For a ring sling, you don't necessarily need as much fabric as you think, For strength use one piece of fabric for the main part of the sling that is on your body and in the rings, the excess can be other pieces added on if you like, that part is used for decoration. So if you find a great fabric but it's just a little too short for your sling ring instructions, just add on to that end of the sling.

Cotton wraps, or sheets & other household fabrics can make some great slings, you may be surprised at how inexpensive making a a sling can be.

Practice makes perfect, just keep trying, you may find that you'll have some fun with this.
