I just read an article from The Center for Unhindered Living, Is Getting Rid of Your Menstrual Period Healthy?
It is an excellent article.
Here is my response & some food for thought.
In my journeys I have come across natural hygiene, in many of the text they say that bleeding ceases when the body is pure and free of toxins, however ovulation continues. Toxins, including thoughts. In the past I had periods that had me in bed for a few days, bleeding for 5-7 days, once it was 18 days (when I was still on meds). I found nothing I would have cherished about that monthly pain, i even had fibroids which add to the pain. Then I had the switch, of following my intuition instead of mother culture & stopped all meds, including the pill. I took on a whole-food organic plant based diet & became more conscious in my life. I use washable cloth glad-rags now, I love them. Then I started to notice what was really happening every month. If I was stressed out or ate lots of processed foods my period would be more intense. This can also answer why in the past women didn't have a monthly bleeding, the amount of stress & processed food in our society is more then women have ever experienced. Add to that the hormones that are in animal products, meds, etc... and I can see why so many women have been experiencing pain, bloating, cramping, excess bleeding, mood swings, etc...
I truly do believe that women can be free of all of these symptoms, naturally, when connecting to your inner guidance and becoming more conscious all aspects of life are more joyous.
I now see that the more accurate statement is that it is a time of spiritual cleansing. It is a time for me to truly feel my body and it's signal, rest my body & mind, and allow my spirit to shine.
