Hybrids

apparently hybirds are really not as eco-friendly as we thought.

The $ savings after 5 years is said to be only about $80. now with the over-inflated price of a new hybrid I would think that number would be even less. And use up 2x the landfill space.

Why you may ask.
Generally, The one part of a vehicle that is not recycleable is the battery. Hybrids use 2 batteries. And after 5 years will typically need replacement. And that might change too, toyota hybrids are much more reliyant on electric than honda. The prius is started & ran via computer, it even has a bunch of computer screens that show you what the car is up to. Computer technologies have a very short life cycle, a cell phone your lucky if it lasts a year, a computer 5, u get the idea, these technologies become absolete way too fast. So how will this effect the prius long term, and it's draining of the battery?

Hybrids are now the in thing, and usually when something becomes so popular it looses the original intent, thank the greedy ones that just wanna make a buck.

I'm going to do more research. and update this when i do. But i'm putting it out there for anyone who may have info to let me know about it.

I have to admit, we had a civic hybrid, and loved it. The car is surely the best choice if one decided to buy a new unleaded fuel running car. Some more good news is that as hybrids become more popular, car manufacturers are looking into more and more ways of making cars more eco-friendly. I read that now they are adding bamboo to make plastic.

As with anything gotta look at the positives and ummm not so positives.

Hmmm. I would love to find out what the real comparison is between a Hybrid and a typical car. You have to figure in the cost of the batteries and the disposal of them. How long do they last anyway?

I sure do miss the great gas mileage of our hybrid, it gets about twice that of our Mazda.

Anyone have any details?

Thanks
