I wish I had my camera handy this morning, what an interesting day.
J was in the kitchen playing with an empty plastic soy-nut butter container. He unscrewed the lid! & then tried to put it back on. To see if maybe the lid was loose I screwed it back on & gave it to him, and he did it again, and then he put the lid back on! He did this a few times and then started playing with other items in his pantry.
After story time we played in the park with our friends Paulina and her daughter Victoria. J has been climbing up slides, and i've been helping him slide down. He loves this, but it was getting hot so we sat at the picnic table under the pavilion and J found his spot - a puddle! He and V had so much fun, they got really wet & dirty, and loved every moment.
J is still getting steady on his feet, now walking about 10 steps, and for some reason two of his friends have recently started pushing him, I assume it is because they want him to do something and he wont, he really wont "perform" for anyone, not even a fellow toddler. I really didn't make a big deal about the pushing, even though once he got pushed rather hard, instead I tell him to give them even more love, because that is what they are really asking for. Well today I realized that J is a great faller, he catches himself now. I love how he is just so positive about everything. What a wise soul.
We had a great evening playing with our friends at the beach. J loves the water, he sat with us for a few minutes and then crawled really fast towards the water & of course right in. He loves waves. He will even go in so far as to have to swim, which he's doing very well with, I have to say he naturally picked it up, as I haven't done too much structred teaching, just playing in the pool. I decided it's time to show him how to blow bubbles, I know this will really help with the swimming. That will be a fun activity.
I've been reading a great blog tonight:
http://chasingcheerios.blogspot.com
I have been taking montessori mommy classes for a few months now & love to read about the different ideas and activities this mommy has, so thanks Melissa for all your sharing.
I know it's been a long time since I posted, and tonight I was inspired by Melissa to get back on the blog and share the joy, maybe some day someone else will feel the same about my blog. I have to admit though, there are some previous posts I will probably delete, but well see.
I've also been intending on writing in J's book, I finally did & was shocked that it has been a year since I last wrote in it. I recently organized the apt - finally after being here a year, and now can do things like this, I hope to keep it up. If not i'll just print out my blog posts and start a yearly book for him. Hey that's a fun idea!
Well it's late & J has an interesting day tomorrow, so I really should be sleeping already. We are meeting his OT, funny we've been waiting for weeks to start OT and PT to help J start walking and talking, and he's already doing it. Makes me realize that all I really need to do is make the intention and relax & it shows up! I'm happy J is joining the vertical world, with thanks from Stacia's talk to him about it, he loves her!
I'm also thinking about starting to teach J yoga, just wondering if I should wait until he is steady on his feet. I'll know soon enough.
Till next time!
